We have a saying in the family of "Plans are set in Jell-O ©". The plan was to go to Bryce Canyon. Now we are searching for the best hospital in Utah. I'm writing this several days later, and I think we found it.
We arrived at University of Utah Hospital just after lunch. I needed surgery. The next surgery slot was on Wednesday. Take it easy. Be back here on Tuesday for a Pre-Op appointment. So by 5 PM we were headed towards Bryce Canyon. We made to Yuba Lake for the night.
The next day we arrived at Kodachrome Basin Campground.
This campground has 2 out of the 3 necessary elements for living: water and electricity. It was missing cell service. Our family rates the campgrounds by certain criteria, mostly the bathrooms. It sounds odd, but the different levels and cleanliness of the bathrooms has varied greatly. Kodachrome Basin ranked pretty high.
Bryce was given his name because he was going on this trip and would have no memory of it. A couple overheard how he got his name and thought it was a neat idea. The mother started naming National Parks that would make good names: "Zion", "Bryce", "Custer", "Joshua". Then the dad spoke up: "Devil's Tower".
We also changed plans and made a long day trip to Zion, because my surgery was going to take those days. Spending one day at Bryce and the next at Zion were opposites. In Bryce, you drive on the top rim and look down. In Zion, you drive in the bottom and look up.
